Too many post-secondary Facilities and Sustainability Leaders are working in silos. Stretched thin, under-resourced, and expected to drive meaningful sustainability outcomes without the time, support, or expertise to get there. It's a frustrating reality across campuses nationwide, and it's slowing progress on the goals that matter most.
Donald Jantz, CPA, MEB, saw this pattern firsthand. With a career spanning sustainability strategy, energy consulting, and work with organizations like Mount Royal University, Green Economy Canada, and the Energy Futures Lab, Donald kept encountering talented, committed facilities leaders who had the will to make change but lacked the network and data to make it happen efficiently.
So he created the Sustainable Campus Collaborative as a national nonprofit to give post-secondary institutions what they've been missing. It is a connected community of peers, access to energy benchmarking data and insights, collective funding opportunities, and hands-on support to turn sustainability goals into real results.

Today, the Sustainable Campus Collaborative helps institutions across Canada improve energy efficiency, reduce costs and emissions, engage their campus communities, and make strategic decisions grounded in data, not guesswork. But we're not stopping there.
Our goal is to grow this network so that every post-secondary institution in Canada has the support, connections, and insights they need to become truly sustainable. Socially, environmentally, and economically. The more campuses that join, the stronger the collective knowledge becomes, and the faster we all move forward.
We envision a future where no facilities leader has to navigate sustainability alone. Where benchmarking data flows freely between institutions so campuses can learn from each other in real time. Where collective funding removes the financial barriers that hold good ideas back. And where every campus serves as a living lab, engaging students, researchers, and communities in the work of building a more sustainable world.
That future starts with the institutions willing to step out of their silos and into something bigger. We're building that something, one campus at a time.
To provide post-secondary institutions with the collaboration, data, and support they need to accelerate campus sustainability.
A future where every educational institution is fully socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable.

The Sustainable Campus Collaborative is built for post-secondary Facilities and Sustainability Leaders who are doing important work but doing too much of it alone. If you're responsible for driving sustainability outcomes on your campus and you're looking for better data, shared resources, and a community of peers who understand the challenges you face, this is your space. We often work with people on campuses who are responsible for:
Donald Jantz, CPA, MEB, has spent his career at the intersection of sustainability strategy, energy consulting, and organizational change. From leading sustainability reporting at Mount Royal University to working with clean tech startups and serving as a Fellow with the Energy Futures Lab, Donald has seen what happens when institutions have the right support and what happens when they don't.
He founded the Sustainable Campus Collaborative to make sure more campuses get the support they need. His approach is grounded in collaboration, data, and a belief that the best solutions come from learning together.

The work of advancing campus sustainability takes a community. Sponsors and donors play a critical role in helping us expand our reach, develop new resources, and keep this network growing. Want to learn how you can support the mission?
Sustainable Campus Collaborative is an invaluable asset to universities. I got connected with a counterpart across the country who had faced similar issues. This connection provided me with valuable insights into possible solutions. The collaborative approach makes working through problems much easier!
Mount Royal University has benefited from involvement with the Sustainable Campus Collaborative in various ways. Most importantly, collaboration with other similar institutions across Canada has given us insight as to what other Universities are doing with respect to sustainability and energy management. It has also opened up opportunities for possible funding sources for our own sustainability initiatives and how to access various government programs.
Very knowledgeable people sharing actual solutions in a structured and organized manner.
Donald Jantz brings clarity and vision to every project. His collaborative approach and deep expertise make him a trusted advisor in campus and community sustainability. Highly recommended for institutions seeking impactful, long-term solutions.
The opportunity to collaborate and share with peers is invaluable. It is always good to hear different perspectives and viewpoints. Without peer interaction, the risk of stagnation and narrow perspective increases. I highly recommend this type of forum.
Donald is very professional and knowlegeable and a great person to work with. I would highly recommend him to work on sustainable campus initiatives. He truly believes in the importance of creating a sustainable environment and can inspire others to do so as well. Thank you!
Sustainable Campus Collaborative helped benchmark our college to understand where we were at, as well as developed a pathway of where we could go. Through the work they did with the college, it created an awareness of a broader scope of sustainable campus.
Working with Sustainable Campus Collaborative has been a genuinely transformative experience for us at University College of the North. From the outset, Donald brought a remarkable depth of knowledge about the STARS accreditation process. He knows the ins and outs of the framework, and guided us through each step which felt accessible and motivating.
Really great group of people, coming together to share and solve shared problems.
